Jake & the Dawgs are entertaining the Orangemen of Syracuse for their home opener of the 2010 season.

The Huskies, 0-1 on the season after a 6 point loss at BYU last week, are hoping to have a repeat performance of their last game vs Syracuse, a 42-12 Huskies road victory in New York. The game, Jake’s first college football game, was the season opener that year and was a nationally televised night game on ESPN. Jake had 142 yards passing and 83 yards rushing with 2 t.d.’s on the evening, leaving the game during the 3rd quarter with a comfortable lead.

This year, though, matches two teams with very similar circumstances. The Orangemen are coming off of a 4-8 record in 2009, their first year under new head coach Doug Marrone, Greg Robinson’s replacement. Syracuse (1-0), opened the 2010 campaign with a 29-6 win on the road vs the Zips of Akron. Their expectations for the season, much like the Huskies, are higher than they have been in a few years. This game could act as a launching pad for the winner, and in contrast the loser could be fighting an uphill battle to get to a bowl game in 2010.

The kick-off is 4:00 from Husky Stadium in Seattle. The Huskies have announced there are still tickets available. And, if you are planning on heading to the game, note the construction has changed a lot of accommodations around the stadium. You can find the transportation guide here.

The game will be televised live on FSN Northwest at 4 p.m.
