A day after an 8-0 shutout the Huskies Softball Team held on for a 3-2 decision , giving the ‘Dawgs a 2-0 World Series victory over the top-ranked Florida Gators that brought the national championship to the University of Washington. The team and their leader, pitcher Danielle Lawrie, were impressive on offense and defense on their way to the clinching win in the best-of-3 series.
Jake was in attendance at the Oklahoma City series for the last 5 days to root on the softball team, and the Seattle Times had a chance to catch up with him at the game. He mentioned that being a part of the last few days got him excited for the upcoming football season and hopefully some similar successes. “To experience this atmosphere, the support and the camaraderie around the team is a neat experience,” Jake told the Times. ”And, I’m not going to lie, I’d love to be a part of. It’s something I’m going to strive for in the years I have left.”
We congratulate the lady Huskies for their monumental achievement, and we hope that the football team can continue an already stellar year for Washington athletics.
