Flashback: UW vs. BYU 2008
Tagged as byu, Jake Locker, Oklahoma, Oregon, washington huskies
It’s the game that quite possibly holds last season’s best memories and worst nightmare for Husky fans. BYU, ranked 15th at the time and one of the favorites to play in a major bowl in 2008, came to Seattle as 10 point favorites over the 0-1 Huskies. The contest was sandwiched between a couple of treacherous games for the Huskies, the season opener at Oregon and a game against Oklahoma, and was a must-have to get on track for the 2008 season.
If you want to read a full re-cap of the 28-27 loss, you can get it here. However, our intent is not to get your blood pressure up again, but rather to remind you that when this team has their confidence going and a (relatively) healthy starting quarterback, they can show flashes of brilliance. The final 16 play drive of the game was vintage Locker, complete with a 13 yard scramble on a 4th and 10 and a 15 yard scamper to the 3 yard line, setting up his own touchdown run three plays later. Locker completed 17-of-32 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown and added 67 yards on 18 carries for the day.
Forget about the unfortunate and inappropriate penalty to end the game on a sour note, because this is just a glimpse of what we can look forward to in 2009:
