Less than 3 days until the Huskies and Trojans kick off their respective conference seasons against eachother at Husky Stadium.
The Trojans, ranked 3rd in the nation, are 2-0 after winning at home against San Jose State and a thrilling victory at #8 Ohio State last weekend. The Huskies are 1-1, dropping the first game to LSU and winning at home against Idaho last Saturday.
Leading up to the nationally televised game against USC, a lot of internet spotlights on Jake and the Dawgs:
Saturday: Buster sports details how intriguing it will be to see watch the USC defense against Jake and the Husky offense.
Sunday: There has been increased clamor about the strides the Husky offense has shown 2 games in, and how well Jake has improved in his passing efficiency. Jake is currently at 60% completion percentage for the season with only 1 interception.
Monday: Jake spoke to reporters and answered questions on a variety of topics–you can find many of the quotes here. Included in the interview, Jake spoke about getting amped for the game and channeling the emotions: “Football has a lot of emotions involved in the game,” Locker said. ”It’s something that will be addressed to the whole team today. We have to put it behind us and understand we are getting ready to prepare for a good football team and don’t want to give them any reason to prepare or play harder this week. We have to take care of what we can control and that’s practice this week and how we prepare Saturday. Let all that other stuff take care of itself. Don’t need to talk about it, just worry about ourselves and focus on ourselves and go from there.”
Tuesday: Everyone’s favorite Cougar fan, Seattle PI columnist Jim Moore, wrote that “If Locker’s not a Heisman Trophy candidate in the making, who is?”
Wednesday: Tim Booth of the AP writes about how USC Coach Carroll has praise for the abilities of Locker: “I think Jake is one of the best players I’ve ever seen in this conference, in all the years we’ve been here,” Carroll said. “He’s the most extraordinary athlete at the position we’ve seen, and I saw that as a freshman.”
