The Buzz of Seattle yesterday–and all of College Football–was the news that Jake was returning to the University of Washington Huskies for his senior year of football rather than enter the NFL draft. While there was much speculation to what decision he would make and a lot of opinions, Jake made the decision for himself….a decision that Husky Nation won’t soon forget.
A lot of links to choose from after a great day for Jake and the Huskies:
Jake’s dad, Scott Locker, chatted with KJR on Monday. You can find the audio to that interview here. If you want to read about it, the Sporting News has a relatively thorough synopsis of the interview.
Some great news regarding ticket sales for next season since Jake’s announcement: they are doing well.
Art Thiel and Jim Moore of the PI have two takes on the return of Jake. Steve Kelley of the Seattle Times echoes Thiel’s sentiments.
Here are some notes to what Coach Sarkisian’s take on the situation is. A quick summary: happy.
Ted Miller of ESPN.com looks at the 2010 returning quarterbacks in the Pac 10 and likes what he sees.
Also looking towards the future, the Draft Dish says that Locker’s decision was the right one for his future NFL success.
Dave Boling of the News Tribune has a few thoughts on Jake’s decision, including one that money doesn’t always make up or trump life’s ambitions.
And, an opinion from blogger John Berkowitz at UW Dawg Pound.

Jake and the Husky offense was clicking on all cylinders Saturday, as they scored touchdowns on their first 5 possessions en route to a 42-23 victory over the visiting Idaho Vandals.
Jake continued to look comfortable in the pro-style offense as he improved his season percentage to 60%, hitting 17 of 25 passes for 253 yards and 3 touchdowns, in addition to 18 yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground.
The junior quarterback made some highlight worthy plays throughout the afternoon, including a signature scramble and pinpoint 35-yard strike to D’Andre Goodwin on 3rd and 14 from the Vandal 41, which led to his own 3 yard touchdown run on the next play.
In describing the dynamic play, Locker said that ” a (defensive) guy kind of got free on the right side there and I tried to get out and I saw another guy so I was just turning to figure out a way to get out of there and not take a sack. Then once I did had a lot of room to work with from the hash to the sidelines, so I just got my eyes downfield to see if a guy could get open and he was running across the field wide open so I just threw it down to him and we were able to convert on a big third down.”

The Huskies now prepare to hose #3 ranked USC (2-0) at Husky stadium this Saturday, a game where the Trojans will be heavily favored. The game will be nationally televised at 12:30 p.m. on ABC.

Only one day left, and a lot of media on Jake Locker and the Dawgs before their nationally televised tilt against the LSU Tigers at Husky Stadium tomorrow night.
Scott Johnson of Heraldnet.com writes that the wait is over for Jake. “It was difficult,” Locker said. “I had never been injured to point that I missed multiple games and wasn’t able to be on the field — in my whole life. So it was hard for me to have to sit and watch, especially with the struggles we went through last season.”
Our favorite Husky fan, the “Go 2 Guy”, believes Jake will be leading the Huskies to a bowl game in 2009.
Tim Booth of the Seattle PI writes about Jake’s return.
Les Miles provides a few sound bites on his weekly press conference about Jake.
The game marks the first contest for Jake since his thumb was broken in a game against Stanford on September 27th, 2008. By all accounts, his thumb is fully handled and he is ready to go.
